More than a pet, a dog is more like a partner, friend or campanion. The relationship develops and you start to know everything about your pet dog. You know how to interact with your dog. The relationship between man and his dog is a special one, and can be hard for the actor to portray. Here are some of the films that develop the relationship perfectly.
There are some great films that manage to portray this relationship and the best Dogs in film almost outshine the actor, a perfect example of this is the brilliant connection shared between Turner and Hooch. Tom Hanks, a great actor as it is, had it easy when his dog played the part as brilliantly as he did. The emergency vet has to be one of the best scenes of thhe film by the reaction whenever a keyhole spay is mentioned. A bit like beethoven when he collapses when he sees the needle.
The snappy, funny little Belgian Griffons has some great moments in the film "as good as it gets" in the Jack Nicholson and goes along with the craziness portrayed by Jack's character perfectly. He really likes his animal medicine.
In the film Shiloh, a boy rescues a beagle from an abusive owner. A boy without many friends living in the 1940's in Minnesota USA does everything he can to protect his new found buddy. It will leave you with warm feelings.
A personal favourite of mine is the film K-9 with James Bellushi, similar to Turner and Hooch as they both came out the same year and was about a policeman with a do, but this was the one I preferred of the two. An unorthodox narcotics cop and a German Shepherd with an attitude, after gruelling shootouts and misadventures, the develop a relationship unlike many other I have seen in a film. It's magical.
