When it comes to awards ceremonies, we have all heard of the Oscars; this is where the people in the acting industry get recognition for what they have done over the previous year. There are though some pretty big game of the year awards held every year and the software houses and developers are all fighting for their own bit of recognition and appreciation. The only difference between the game of the year awards and the Oscars and is that you are unlikely to see a red carpet or a tuxedo and there will be considerably less tearful speeches.
In actual fact, these gaming awards are not normally held at a top venue but are rather voted on by those who actually read the computer or video gaming press.
