Understanding The Origin Of Music Festivals

Before there was any music festival, mankind has already been living with music. In the olden days, early people have used rocks, wood sticks, tree trunks, mammoth bones and other local materials to produce sounds. As a matter of fact, archeologists discovered that the first musical instrument created was a flute made of a bone. There was no any structured beats and rhythms as people just create sounds according to their feelings.

Later on, lyrics were written as inspired by the nature. Just like anything in the world, music has also evolved, which now people celebrate through music festivals. The concept of festivals started in the medieval time through competitions. The first music festival known was during the Pythian Games in Apollo, Delphi. In the Renaissance period, appreciation of music flourished under notable composers such as Monteverdi, Byrd and more.

Although every country has its own music festival, the United States hold the most number of music festivals, as it celebrates almost all genres of music. Normally, these festivals last a week long. The New Orleans Jazz Festival is one example of a music festival for a specific genre. The celebration features classic and modern Jazz music and player.

The music festival is celebrated all over America, each state having its own specific day of celebration. The most popular summer festival in America is called the Big Gig. It is celebrated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from end of June till early July. The event is dotted with popular bands and singers for different genres.
