Retro Cartoon Characters That We All Remember

If you are a fan of classic cartoon characters from the past, then this is the article for you. Weve put together this guide to some of the most iconic characters of all time to give you a chance to reminisce over some of your favorite cartoon creations. We start with Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner, the duo that are probably most famous for their Acme products, high speed chases and the coyote falling off quite a lot of cliffs it certainly made for a lot of cartoon comedy gold.

Another classic cartoon duo are Tom and Jerry, the cat and mouse who are constantly at each others throats but do occasionally reach a sort of brief d©tente. They spend a lot of time chasing each other around the house and out and about in their local surroundings, always in a manner that is sure to get the audience laughing even decades after the cartoons were first produced. This is definitely one cartoon pairing that is sure to go down in history.

We are also big fans of Tweety Pie and Sylvester, the bird and cat that formed the center of a very popular classic cartoon. If youre unfamiliar with them, Tweety Pie was an innocent-looking tiny yellow bird that, in the eyes of his owner, could do no wrong and yet he secretly wasnt quite as sweet as he looked and could scheme with the best of them. Sylvester was the evil cat that was long suspected of wanting to eat Tweety which is a largely fair assessment.

Iconic human characters in cartoons are something of a rarity, but special mention undoubtedly has to go to The Flintstones, the Stone Age family living with their pet dinosaur, Dino. The show follows the trials and exploits of Fred and Wilma Flintstone and much of the comedy comes from the fact that they are living a weird, sort of modern life even though the trappings are clearly ancient (stone cars, for instance). The next door neighbors, the Rubbles, also provide additional humor to this classic show.

Lastly, we round out the list with another animal. In this case its Garfield, the super lazy cat who loves sleeping. Quite possibly the only thing he loves more than being lazy is eating lasagna and being sarcastic, a combination that has long proved to be hilarious. Garfield is a really fat cat and he was originally a comic strip, but proved so popular with the audience that he later made the move to television and even became a movie star a classic in the true sense of the word.
