Welcome to my WoW beginner guide , and I hope this guide will help you get started in the World of Warcraft. Anyway, now I'm going to assume you're reading this beginner's guide for World of Warcraft is you have either just purchased the game and have questions, or you are looking to know the game more before you make your purchasing decisions. Well, either way this guide is going to answer whatever question you might heave right now.
Precisely What is Worlds of Warcraft?
In a nut shell World of Warcraft is a fantasy base Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMORPG). The concept of MMORPGs is to allow an extremely large number of video game players all over the world to be able to play together in a virtual world. And in context of World of Warcraft Azeroth is that virtual world that all WoW players interact within.
As with all mmoprgs your objective in WoW is to create a hero or character, and level it up. Although the most important thing for all new WoW players is to level up their character, but they are not only limited to that. You can go on boss raids, PvP, obtain good equipment, make friends, and much more.
That's all for my WoW overview, I mean it's really not that hard of a concept to understand, but if you want to know more just start playing the game already! Reading words, guides, and tips will only get you so far.
Basics of Moving your Character
Although moving your character is very simple, but it is also very important and should be to first thing you spent time on in the game. The overall movement or character control design for WoW is just like many other MMORPGs. So, if you have played other MMORPGs before, than you can probably just skip this section.
Anyway, moving your character in WoW require the use of 6 movement keys on your keyboard and the 2 mouse buttons. The W key moves your character forward, the S key moves your character backwards, the A key turns your character to the left, the D key turns your character to the right, the Q key strafe your character to the left, the E key strafe your character to the right, right mouse button spins your camera, and finally the left mouse buttons turns your character.
You're probably realize that he A plus D key and your left mouse button are pretty much the same thing, with the exception that your mouse button is not confined to only turning in one direction. So, it is obvious that most players would not use the A and D keys for turning. Instead, what most players do when moving their character is to hold the left mouse button direct their character while using the W and S keys to move forward and backward.
Getting to Know the User Interface
Now that you have grasp the mechanics of moving your character, it is time to take a look and get use to WoW's UI. The purpose of WoW's UI is to allow the player to be able to control their character with ease and simplicity.
Character Info Menu - This menu is located on the top left corner of the screen. The purpose of this menu is to show your character's current heal, and mana/focus/rune/combat/rage level, as well as display your 3D portrait.
Mini Map - The mini map is a very useful feature that is located on the top right corner of your screen. It gives you a broad view of your current location and you're surroundings. There are many sub features on the mini map that can be manually tweaked.
Chat Menu - This is a very basic function for all MMORPG games. As the name states it, the chat menu allows you to communicate with all other WoW players who are currently online.
The UI Bar - The UI bar is another extremely important piece of WoW UI. The Bar is very long and it stretches across the bottom of your screen. The whole bar is split in to 3 different sections, and the first section is called the Action bar which is located to the very left. The action bar is what you'll use to activate any skills, spells, equipment, potions, and anything else that can be activated.
The bar next to your action bar is called the Menu Bar. In the menu bar you can access many game options such as graphic setting, sound setting, quest log, guild window, etc... Lastly there is the Bag bar which is right next to the menu bar. The bag bar gives you instant access to all of your bags.
That's all for my brief WoW beginner guide, if you wish to keep Learning about WoW... I highly propose that you read this next wow class guide.
