The Japanese have Karate, the Chinese have Sumo wrestling while the Brazilians have Jiu Jitsu. This is a form of martial art that is popular in countries apart from Brazil. It is based on self defense and it has moves that use wrestling and grabbing techniques. They are performed mostly on the floor or the opponents wind up on the ground. One crucial factor that determines whether this form of Brazilian fight goes well or not is the kind of mma gear that is worn. It is in fact believed to determine whether a player wins or loses.
A distinctive aspect of Jiu Jitsu is that it is not so much the size of a player that matters. In fact it does not matter in the least if a player cannot turn their size into an advantage by making moves like joint and choke holds that would help them dominate over their opponent.
This art is based on thinking and moving fast. Being able to do this is partly determined by fight wear that makes it easy to do this. There is a variety of Brazilian wear such as kimonos, boxing gloves, kimonos, shin pads, and hand wraps.
For official events, the right gear must be worn. The clothes are made of a light fabric so that the wearer is comfortable. It also must be hard wearing enough to keep up with the movements without tearing especially at the knees and elbows. It also has to be roomy but without being too loose so that those fast moves are not impeded. Temperatures do rise during a match so a kit helps a fighter stay cool by absorbing sweat. Clothes that are made with pre-shrunk fabric ensure this.
There is fight wear made for various uses. One kind is stretch shorts which have Velcro and drawstrings. These are made for players practicing grappling moves for their generous leg measurements and overall spaciousness. For choking moves, a kimono that has a well padded cotton collar or rubber collar acts as an effective safeguard. An opponent will have a harder time holding on when they try a chocking move which is very advantageous.
Brazilian fight wear has to be verified by the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation. However, for events such as Jiu Jitsu no-gi, no stern conditions are placed. For instance, it is not compulsory for the uniform to have black shorts that have a white or black rash guard with a minimum of ten percent of it carrying the color of a rank or belt. However, the board shorts must be black. Women do have the option of wearing Lycra shorts or pants. Choosing womens gear which is cut and made especially for them is advised. Logos on the shorts or pants is permitted and so is a trim which can be of any color.
A logo on them is allowed and a trim of any color. A comfortable crotch on the shorts is very important to counter their riding up. A crotch that is seamless and made of fabric that stretches and is durable keeps a player comfy.
Size is an important factor to consider. These Kimonos have different sizing from that of regular clothing. Height and weight charts made just for kimonos should be used in order to determine the right fitting.
