Cutting Hall: Chicago's Entertainment Center



The cultural diversity in Chicago has been the reason for the setting up of Cutting Hall, an international level performing arts center to promote familiarity with various cultures which emerge in that state.

Cutting Hall is Chicago's recreational resource facility which facilitates the entertainment and arts needs of different north west towns across the state. This performing arts center is controlled and operated by the Palatine Park District. It is one of the few local recreation group owned.

Performing Arts Center History

This performing arts center found in Palatine, Illinois has been a main aspect of Palatine's arts' environment. It was established in 1928 and at that time was used as an auditorium of Palatine High School. Charles Cutting became the first principal of the high school. Through his life he obtained reputation as being legal professional, an educator and judge in Cook County.

In 1977, the center was closed down by 211 Palatine School District once the facility was relocated to a larger place. The existing building was used as a community- building center by the citizens to make use of its facilities. It was repaired and soon separated from the main the theater to give way to its new role.

Performances

Cutting Hall has been able to stage numerous performances from 1979. From its simple start as an auditorium it tremendously evolved into the multipurpose theater in the whole area. Three of the prominent community groups presented many productions for six seasons. Such groups were renting the hall to hold their audition, production period and performances.

In addition, Cutting Hall provides theater space, when available, which devoted for nearby companies that desired to rehearse for their upcoming performances. Space is also provided for construction.

Renovations

Palatine Park District planned to keep and restore Cutting Hall for the local citizens to get the chance of enjoying and participating in novice and professional performances. There have been additional renovations made, including its reception and changes of lecture rooms.

Cutting Hall performing arts center continued to be in its shine which is now 430-seater after restoration. It has become the center of production of a number of performances, recitals, movies and musicals.
