A Look At Video Game Addictions

An addictive personality disorder may be the main reason for addiction to games. Most people think video gaming addiction is not bad, but the result of this kind of addiction can be hazardous. One of the most addictive things about video games is the fact that there is some sort of a reward for the gamer every time he finishes a level.

If we have to compare video gaming addictions to other addictions, we can say that it is most similar to gambling. Gambling addicts don't stop until they get a win, like a gamer doesn't stop until he reaches a level or kills a boss. For gambling addicts, the reward is money or the potential of making money by using pure luck. It's the old Pavlovian response system coming in. The addict wants more once he gets to the reward.

What are signs of addiction? It's simple, if a person cannot stay away from a game, he may be a gaming addict. If the person cannot talk about anything else other than his game. It's true that gamers hole themselves up for days just to finish a game. Insomnia and other sleep disorders may arise from this habit. One more thing that suffers is the connection that the gamer has with his family and friends. Most of the time, gamers are not aware that they have to cultivate relationships outside their games in order to live their life. Some gamers find other things a bother.

There's no rehab center for video game addicts. A good way to cure this is to go on a long vacation away from the games and other gaming gadgets. A gamer should go on a great vacation away from his usual lifestyle in order to get a grip of what's real and what's not. A gaming addict may have become a burden to some people without realizing it, so he has to snap out of it fast.

In conclusion, video game addictions can happen to any gamers so you have to be aware of the dangers the addictions brings.
